The New World Information Order

The impetus for the development of the new world information order may be the incredible speed with which innovative technology is changing the shape of society and international relations. Most nations would welcome US and Western participation in their efforts to reshape the information order, but they will go ahead on their own if necessary. Potential areas of serious friction may arise concerning governmental control of information, including: 1. economic warfare over communications, 2. information products and the media, 3. East-West and North-South differences over uses of the electric spectrum, particularly in regard to international broadcasting, and 4. definitions of outer space, privacy, and sovereignty of information.
